Our Second Presiding Bishop

His Grace, The Right Reverend Alvin J. Spotwood, III, B.Th., LPCC

He may be called by many names be we call him a Miracle....

Bishop Alvin J. Spotwood, III is the Innovative, Trailblazing Pastor of Temple of Emmanuel Family Worship Center. Affectionately known as "Spot" or "Pastor Spot", He is known for his Down to Earth approach in ministry, his expounding teaching ability, and the way he uses his real-life experiences to help others apply Biblical Principles in their lives.

Alvin J. Spotwood, III and was born in Kansas City, MO on July 6,1984. The 6th of 8 children, and only boy of his parents. He was Baptized at the age of 4, at New Revelations Missionary Baptist Church 2454 W. Paseo Kansas City, Missouri by Rev. Kenneth M. Hinton, Sr., 4 years later at the age of 8 he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at New Life Baptist Church of Jesus Christ (formerly New Revelations). From a young boy Alvin knew that there was a calling on his life, a calling that was affirmed and confirmed by various Pastors throughout his life. And not brung into fruition until he had an encounter with God.

"Spot" went on to work in church and do ministry from the time of his youth, he served as a Jr. Usher, Jr. Deacon, he sang in the Angel Choir, Intermediate Choir, Sanctuary Choir and The New Life Mass Choir, he served as a Janitor then was over the Building and Ground Crew, he worked Security, served as an Armor Bearer to his Pastor, Drove the Church Bus, was a part of the Evangelism Team but his passion was Ushering keeping God's House in order. Although acknowledging that he was called "Spot" ran from his calling, the only calling he would listen to was the streets calling. Ultimately running the streets, selling drug, hanging with a gang and serving jail time, a teen-aged life of causing trouble and crime. Even in the streets, "Spot" had a heart for God and could rarely be seen missing any church service. God was constantly tugging on heart, and

In February of 2002 at the age of 18 he rededicated his life to Christ and was Baptized in Jesus' Name and was filled with the Holy Spirit at New Life Full Gospel Baptist Church by Apostle Tanya Mingo (Apostle Kenneth M. Hinton, Sr. was Pastor).

On September 13, 2002 God worked the first miracle in "Spot's" life, while at a House Party "Spot" was shot in his spine. He was told by doctors that it would be a slim chance of him regaining feelings in his leg or even to walk again. His Family at New Life began to pray for his healing and after a month in being in a wheelchair, "Spot" regained feeling in his legs and was able to stand up and walk a feat witness by many of his friends that day, and a miracle that can even be still seen to this day.

Again, after his healing "Spot" would run from his calling. Although he worked in ministry and attended church regularly, he still had ties to the street and on November 19, 2007, God performed another miracle in the life of "Spot" he was shot again. God preserved his life once more. In January 2008 "Spot" was convicted of Conspiracy to Distribute Drugs and sentenced to 10 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections, God stepped in once more and he was released early from Prison in August of 2008.

The first place he went was to church, by this time New Life International House of Worship had changed its name to New Beginnings International House of Worship. He would stay working in ministry until his Pastor, Apostle Kenneth M. Hinton, Sr. would move to Dallas, Texas in 2013. He would be a part of this Ministry for 29 years from 1984-2013. He ceased to fellowship with a church for over a year.

On September 9, 2014, "Spot" had a God Encounter. This encounter would change his life forever. That cool Tuesday Afternoon “Spot” left the barbershop where he was working to go get lunch. On his way home he was shot five times (three time in the chest, once in the stomach and arm, although he was critically wounded, he was able to drive about a mile to the nearest hospital. He would walk into the hospital under his own strength. Even though the Doctors would tell his mother that he was in “grave condition” and that he would not make it through the night, they told her to call family from far and near to say their final goodbyes. It seems like they were preparing for the worse, although he did not die, his health declined. But God stepped in and had another plan for “Spot’s” Life.

God has a way of speaking and God sent a Woman of God to “Spot’s” hospital room with a message. She said “Alvin, the Lord told me you need to repent, and you will be healed.” She said, “You have a homicide spirit over you, and I don’t know what you have done but you are reaping what you sowed,”

“Spot’ got upset and asked for the Woman of God to leave, he didn’t want to hear that church stuff he wanted revenge. But later that night God started to deal with him, he went into worship in the hospital room and began to repent, he told God “Whatever I got to do to get up out of here (the hospital) I will do it. Not knowing that he had just accepted the Call of God on his Life.

After 16 surgeries, 12 blood transfusions, being on kidney dialysis and several other health problems, “Spot” went home after 72 days in the hospital (41 days in ICU). He didn’t go to a long-term treatment facility, he went home. To God be the Glory. It would be another two and a half years before he started to walk in the calling of God on his Life.

"HIS MINISTRY"

In 2011 Mother Mary Roberts started a Thursday Evening Bible & Prayer group in her home. This group consisted of many of Mother Roberts friends and later her family joined the group, namely her nephew Bro. Alvin J. Spotwood, III. And how our story goes we would gather Study the Bible Pray and have Dinner. Over the years the Bible Study grew and could no longer be contained to Mother Roberts home, so in 2016 the group moved their meetings to the U Church (Bannister & Raytown Rd.), where we stayed for about a year.

In February of 2017, Mother Roberts had a stroke and was no longer able to hold her Bible Study and Prayer Meetings. With no Leader or Direction, the group dissolved.

In October of 2017, heeding to the voice of God, spoken through his son Alijah “Pastor Eli” Spotwood, Mother Roberts nephew Bro. Spotwood reorganized the Bible Study & Prayer group inside of his home with hopes of bringing his family closer to the Lord. After much Prayer and discussions with his mother and Wife, and from the tugging on his heart from the Holy Spirit, he decided not to just hold Bible Study & Prayer group but to start a Ministry.

The first weekend in December 2017 we had our unofficial first service, with more than 20 people in attendance. We called the Ministry “the Church of Our Father God”.  Bro Spotwood then went again to the Council his mother and Wife about moving the ministry from the house to an actual location. That weekend he and his Mother Sis. Bell Blair-Spotwood, met with the landlord of Location #1 and put a deposit down on our First Sanctuary it was located at 1734 East 63rd Street, Suite 108A KCMO.

In January 2018, we chose to call our Ministry “Temple of Emmanuel Family Worship Center - Church of Our Father God”.

We Elected the Bishop Kenneth M. Hinton, Sr. as our Apostle & Overseer. We submitted the Ministry to the Apostolic Covering of “New Dimension Covenant Fellowship International” (Frico, TX). Bishop Hinton appointed Bro. Spotwood and his Mother Bell Blair-Spotwood as Elders of the Church, along with Elder Jamaal Neely.

Over the course of one year many ministries and auxiliaries were formed in the church. In June of 2018 Elder Spotwood took on the role of Pastor-Elect and was Installed and Ordained as the Pastor of Temple of Emmanuel Family Worship Center, one year and one day after the Official Service of our Ministry January 27,2018.
